Meet our Teachers
Here at Fairmont, we teach foundational skills, such as recognizing letters, colors, numbers and shapes, as well as social, language, and motor skills. We stimulate their desire to learn by introducing students to questioning, experimenting and problem solving. We can’t wait to love on your children!
Stoney Halberg
director
My name is Stoney Halberg; I have enjoyed working in Early Childhood Education for over thirty years, especially during my time at Fairmont Early Learning Center . I have taught every age, along with directing other schools and absolutely love being involved in the pre-school setting. My husband and I have two wonderful sons, along with a beautiful daughter in law, and 3 amazing grandchildren. We have two big dogs at home with with us, whom we love very much. I am originally from Wisconsin (GO PACKERS!), but we have been happy to be here in Raleigh, NC. Watching our small school thrive with love and learning from my wonderful staff brings me so much joy. Fairmont Early Learning Center is a true definition of small but mighty. Myself along with my staff enjoy our school family and can not wait for another year growing our family with all of you! Thank you for allowing us to be apart of your children’s journey!
Lizzie Muehlfelder
upper level teacher (3-5 year olds)
My name is Lizzie Muehlfelder. I am so excited to spend another year with my super bear class. I joined FairmontELC in 2016, and love my experience as a three year old teacher and along with PRE-K. I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC, and enjoy being able to raise my family here. I got my lead teaching certificate through wake tech and have enjoyed working with children since. My husband and I have two wonderful children, whom we love spending quality time with and finding new adventures. We also have two dogs, two cats, our chameleon, a fish tank, and lastly our wonderful ducks and chickens; which keeps our house full and fun all the time. Our school pet bunny (cupcake) enjoys the chaos and animals in our home when she is not at school playing with the children. Embarking on a new adventure of combining our 3-4 class with our Pre-K has been one of my biggest joys. Teaching and preparing all of our kids for kindergarten along with watching the younger children advance faster has been such a rewarding task. The social aspect of the older children helping the younger children, dividing up things they would like to do, playing and bridging the gap independently, along with seeing how they become such a support for each other has truly been one of my biggest joys in the classroom. I look forward to helping your children learn and grow through play base learning, and getting them prepared for their next step in learning! I can't wait for a beary good year!
